When I started writing this edition, I never intended for it to be focused on a single topic, but that is what ended up happening. Today, we are exploring all things Titanic. If you want to support and help me a little, please consider subscribing for just $5 a month. You get a load of extra content, and it helps me create this sort of content, which I adore. Now, on with the Titanic edition of The Static.
‘In My Dreams, the Words I Love You’ is a poem by Hanif Aburraqib about the Titanic but also so much more than the Titanic because it is Hanif, and he puts a great deal into his messages where they branch into multiple topics. If you want to hear him read it, you can do so by clicking here, and it will hopefully take you to the current time-stamp, but if it doesn’t, forward to 1:19, and you’ll be golden. Warning: this poem is crazy good.
Ten facts about Titanic that I didn’t know. After hearing Hanif talk about Titanic rabbit holes, I found myself falling down one. There is also this article here, just a gallery of pictures of the Titanic before and after the sinking. It is all very fascinating, and I am trying not to fall back into the hole, but boy, am I tempted to start googling.
Behind the scenes from the Titanic movie, which includes bloopers and discussions, is an enjoyable watch. If you are a total nerd like me and want to watch the forty-five-minute National Geographic documentary with James Cameron (the director), you can do so by clicking here.
The 1953 movie titled 'Titanic' is a decent watch. I love old films and their charm and it isn’t as good as the ones we all know and loves but it is wonderful in its own way. The 1912 German Titanic movie titled 'In Nacht und Eis' is silent and watching films from this era is always fascinating.
Did you enjoy the dive into the Titanic? Do you like the static being themed? Let me know what you thought of this edition in the comments below. See you there.
Fascinating!
