Last week I talked about living in the now. About longing for more in the less. This week I want to discuss the future to highlight the importance of the now Let me put forward a hypothetical - if you went to the future and saw your life wasn’t going well, would you change how you’re living now? But what if it was the change that made things go bad. If you were alone in the future vision but happily partnered in the present day, again, how can we be sure it isn’t the changes that cause the relationship to end. We are here right now and the smallest of changes alter our lives in the most unbelievable of ways. If we could even see the future, it wouldn’t be definite. I don’t want to fall down the wormhole and discuss alternate realities or different strings of time but there are too many variables to give guarantees. I am saying all of this to say once again, live in the now. We aren’t promised tomorrow. All of the colour could fade at any moment. It is great to look forward and dream and think of what could be but don’t put your present-day on hold for that. Trail off the beaten path. Say yes instead of no. Face your fears. Watch movies you are convinced you will hate. Listen to a new genre of music every day. Open yourself to all possibilities. Who knows what variable we will find. Who knows what we will alter about our future.
